About Gates Chili Federal Credit Union
In 1964, seven teachers in the Gates Chili school district started the credit union, originally named Gates Chili School District Federal Credit Union. We were housed in a small area near the entrance of the Health office in the Harding School and were open every school day between 2pm and 4:30pm. As our membership grew to 50 members, we moved to the teacher's lounge.
The credit union operated out of different classrooms and offices throughout the school district until 1993. Due to the school district's need for extra space, our office was moved to its present location in the Cornerstone Centre. In 1999, we obtained a community charter from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), allowing us to offer membership to anyone who lived, worked, worshiped, attended school or actively volunteered in the towns of Gates or Chili, along with their immediate family.
Since then the credit union has continued to evolve and offers our members a full line of financial products and serves. Today, our credit union serves 2,300 members and manages over $21 million in assets. We continue to grow and improve our technology without loosing sight of the credit union core philosophy -- "People helping people".

While we are a small credit union, we pride ourselves in being able to give back to our community in different ways throughout the year.
- Holiday Donation Drive
Every fall/winter, the credit union puts together a member donation drive to support a local organization. Previous donation drives have included a food drive for the food cupboards of Gates and Chili, clothing drives for the Volunteers of America Working Wardrobe program, a book drive for Reach Out & Read to benefit Chili Pediatrics, a blanket drive for Alternatives for Batter Women and more.
- Scholarship Opportunities
The credit union offers graduating high school seniors two $1,000 scholarships and four $250 scholarships. Other scholarships, not funded by the credit union but provided by credit union partners, are also made available each year.
- Credit Unions for Kids to benefit the Golisano Children's Hospital
Credit Unions for Kids is a joint effort between credit unions across the country to raise funds for our local Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Our credit union raises funds for our Children's Miracle Network Hospital, the Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong, in a variety of ways.
- Youth Financial Education
We have worked with local teachers in the Gates Chili school district to provide financial education classes to students of different age levels, as well as providing teachers with lesson plan materials that they can use in their classrooms to teach students about the importance of saving. We've worked with Florence Brasser Elementary to develop an in-school elementary savings program, the Spartan Savers Club and Savings Account, to give students hands-on experience and activities that teach personal finance principles.
- Gates Chili Chamber of Commerce
As a member of the Gates Chili Chamber of Commerce, the credit union participates in a variety of programs, including the annual Lifetime Assistance Golf Tournament.
Each year, at our annual meeting, we provide our membership with our annual report. This report reviews our previous-year financial information and provides reports from the President of our Board of Directors and from the Chairperson of our Supervisory Committee.
