Is a Debit Card different from a Credit Card?
Although debit cards often look like credit cards, they are very different. A debit card is used to make purchases that are withdrawn directly from your checking account - just like writing a check. You can only spend as much money as is available in your checking account.
A credit card typically comes from a bank or another financial institution and is similar to a loan. Based on your credit history, income and ability to pay, these financial institutions determine the amount of credit that they will allow you to use. Each month, you receive a statement listing all of the purchases you've made throughout the month. If you do not pay in full each month, you are charged interest on the amount that you borrowed.
My new card was lost in the mail. How do I get a new one?
In the event that your card is lost in the mail, please fill out a ATM/Debit MasterCard order form at the Gates Chili Federal Credit Union office. You should receive your new card in the mail within 7 to 10 days after submitting the order form.
