The Advantages of Credit Union Membership
The advantages of credit union membership are many:
Personal Service -- It's about you
At a credit union, you're a member -- not a number. In fact, you're actually a "member-owner" because when you open your credit union account, your account becomes your "share" of our credit union. Each member has an equal vote at our annual meetings.
Once a Member, Always a Member
If you move, leave your job, change your place of worship, graduate or stop volunteering in Gates or Chili after you've joined the credit union, you can continue to be a member.
Lower rates on loans, higher yields on savings and fewer fees
The profits that the credit union makes are not given to a group of owners, to pay high executive salaries or to pay a Board of Directors. Because we are not-for-profit, any profit we make is returned to our members in the form of lower rates, higher yields and more affordable services.
Focus on Financial Education
View Financial Education Resources
We go out of our way to make sure that our members learn about personal finance -- this means thoroughly reviewing credit reports with member, giving tips on how a credit score might be improved, providing budgeting guides, and more. Our credit score improvement program was specifically created with financial education in mind. This program is an incentive for members to work towards improving their credit -- we give members the opportunity to reduce their loan rate if their credit score has improved after six months or more!
Support Your Community
The funds that members deposit into our credit union stay local and are used to provide loans to other members -- your friends, family, coworkers and neighbors.
Discount tickets and special offers
Members can take advantage of member-only discount tickets to local movie theatres, car washes, attractions and museums. Special offers are available for credit union members from merchants like Sprint, TurboTax, Enterprise-Rent-A-Car, General Motors and more.
Scholarship Opportunities
The credit union makes a variety of scholarship opportunities available each year to our graduating high school seniors. We support our high school seniors with two $1,000 scholarships and four $250 Book Scholarships -- in addition to access to other scholarship opportunities provided by vendors and other organizations that our credit union works with.

We're committed to providing resources and benefits that enhance our members' lives.
